Mauritius: Old people get vaccinated against flu

Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - The Mauritian Health Ministry will start a vaccination campaign against seasonal flu for people aged 60 and above as from Monday, PANA learnt from sanitary sources here Sunday.

The sources said the campaign, starting at the onset of winter every year in Mauritius, has become necessary.

About 80,000 old people will be vaccinated this year.

Several types of flu affect the island and are very active during the winter months, hence the need to vaccinate the elders, particularly those whose health is weak because of diabetes.
