Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - Mauritius is to contribute US$100,000 to the fight against the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), which is ravaging parts of West Africa, PANA reported Wednesday from Port-Louis, the capital city.

The money will be given to the WHO Africa Public Health Emergency Fund, the UN Trust Fund for Ebola, and the three UN member-countries worst affected by the disease - Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, the Government said in a statement.

A government official said though the island is not affected by EVD, it decided to assist fellow African nations in the fight against the disease that has so far claimed more than 8,000 lives.
