Mauritius: Mauritius, Ghana explore possibility of joint venture in aviation sector

Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - Ghanaian Aviation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah called on Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth in Port-Louis, with whom she discussed the possibility of a joint venture between Air Mauritius and Ghana.

The chairman of Air Mauritius Arjoon Suddhoo said the visit of the Ghanaian Minister for Aviation coincides with the vision of the Mauritian government as regards its Africa strategy which lays emphasis on securing strong regional partnerships to accede to the next developmental level.

"Ghana is seeking assistance of Air Mauritius to revive Ghana Airways. Both parties have also agreed on a business plan for Air Mauritius to expand in Africa," he said.

For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Air Mauritius, Somaskaran Appavou, said a team of experts from Ghana and Mauritius are presently holding talks on the way forward for the setting up of Ghana’s airline.

"Air Mauritius, with its pool of human capital and 50 years of experience can greatly assist Ghana in this endeavour," he added.
