Mauritius: Mauritian court acquits suspected Somali pirates

Port Louis, Mauritius (PANA) – Twelve suspected Somali pirates, aged between 20 and 45, were Thursday set free by a court in the Mauritian capita, Port Louis, due to lack of sufficient evidence to prove their guilt.

According to magistrates Wendy Rengen and Azam Neerooa, the charge against the suspects lacked sufficient evidence against the accused Somalis accused of attacking a French vessel MSC Jasmine.

The Somalis were arrested in the Indian Ocean on 25 January 2013.
