Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - AirAsia, X Berhad, on Monday announced the suspension of its three times weekly services from Kuala Lumpur to Mauritius.
In a communiqué, the Malaysian company said that the last Kuala Lumpur – Mauritius service will be operated on 24 March 2017 while the last Mauritius – Kuala Lumpur service will be operated on 25 March 2017.
“The suspension of the Mauritius route is a part of the company’s big plan in network restructuring aimed at improving operational efficiencies in term of aircraft utilizations. It is also to accelerate capacity growth in AirAsia X key markets of Australia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea," it said.
Arik De, Chief Head of Commercial for AirAsia, said the decision to withdraw from Mauritius has to be made in order to "rationalize our business strategy in providing a comprehensive
network and dominating key markets by growing capacity for us to operate more efficiently.”
Air Asia X started its services to Mauritius on 4 October 2016 as the cheapest aviation company to operate on the Mauritius-Asia route.
