Port-Louis, Mauritius (PANA) - The Mauritian national airline, Air Mauritius, posted profits of 2.1 million euros and 2 million euros (Group and Company) respectively, as compared to losses of 9.7 million euros and 9.8 million euros respectively for the same period in 2015.
In a communiqué issued Thursday, it said it carried a total of 343,473 passengers during the quarter under review as compared to 315,098 passengers, an increase of 9%.
It further said that total shareholders’ funds increased from 82.5 million euros as at 31 March 2016 to 88.6 million euros as at 30 June 2016.
As a result, the net assets per share increased from 0.81 euros as at 31 March 2016 to 0.87 euros as at 30 June 2016.
Air Mauritius pursued its growth strategy by extending its African network to include Maputo and Dar-es-Salaam as from May 2016.
It also started once weekly direct operations to Guangzhou in China from July 2016.
Moreover, a third ATR72-500 joined the airline’s fleet in July 2016 to further enhance the services to Rodrigues and La Reunion.
