Mauritian ex-President Uteem, gets Francophonie Council job

Port Louis- Mauritius (PANA) -- Mauritian former President Cassam Uteem, has been appointed to the International Francophonie Organisation's Consultative Council.
He told PANA the organisation's Secretary General, former Senegalese President Abdou Diouf, informed him about the appointment this week.
Uteem pledged to encourage dialogue and promote cultural diversity.
He ruled Mauritius for 10 years from 1992 to 2002, when he resigned to protest against an anti-terrorism law passed by his country's parliament.
