Mauritanian party blames Gbagbo for political violence in Cote d'Ivoire

Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) – Mauritanian party, Alliance for Justice and Democracy/Movement for Reconciliation (AJD/MR), has asked the government to ensure that all Mauritanians in Cote d'Ivoire are evacuated.

In a statement, released here Monday, the AJD/MR said it was making the call following latest political situation in Cote d’Ivoire which it blamed on the outgoing president, Laurent Gbagbo.

It said that all the violent clashes and mass displacements of populations in the country resulted from the “anti-democratic attitude of Gbagbo"..

There are about 150,000 Mauritanians in Cote d’Ivoire, involved mainly in retail trade.
