Nouakchott, Mauritania (PANA) - Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz's return to Nouakchott from France Sunday has been postponed indefinitely, PANA learned from reliable sources.
The President, who was ''accidentally shot'' by a unit of the national army on 13 October, underwent surgery in a Nouakchott hospital before being flown to France, where he was admitted to the military Percy Clamart hospital for further treatment.
The President was discharged from the Paris hospital on Tuesday but his aides explained that he needed a 15-day rest in Nice (Southern France), giving credence to rumors of a power vacuum which might lead to the establishment of a transitional authority in the country.
The situation in the country remains calm as the citizens, who celebrated Eid-El-Kabir two days ago, enjoyed Sunday's public holiday.
