Mauritanian President reaffirms support for stability in Libya, reconciliation process supported by AU

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed ould Cheikh Ghazouani, has reaffirmed his support for all the steps taken by the chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Manfi, to achieve stability in Libya.

He also declared his support of the national reconciliation process led by the Presidential Council with the support of the African Union (AU).

This came during a meeting between Mr. al-Manfi and Mr. Ghazouani on Friday evening at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, according to a statement from the Office of the chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council.

According to the same source, the two parties discussed "bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields, in addition to the agenda of the 37th African Summit and a number of other issues, and also agreed to continue consultations on all matters".

The chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday to take part in the work of the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit, where an official reception ceremony was held in his honour.

Mr. al-Manfi is taking part in this summit with a large number of presidents, leaders and heads of government from African countries, who are discussing the strengthening of joint continental efforts, ways of moving the African Union forward and the development of Afro-African relations, and a number of topical issues of concern to countries of the continent.
