Mandela awarded Zulu King Tshaka's medallion

Johannesburg- South Africa (PANA) -- Former South African President Nelson Mandela became the first recipient of Zulu King Tshaka's medallion Tuesday.
King Goodwill Zwelithini travelled about 600km to present the gold medallion to the ailing former President.
Mandela had been scheduled to receive the award two weeks ago, but cancer treatment forced him to cancel the engagement.
He said Tuesday he was honoured by the Zulu gesture, and also used the occasion to allay public fears over his health after recently being diagnosed with prostrate cancer.
Mandela said three doctors had examined him and they were satisfied that he was being given the "correct treatment.
That is why I am confident.
" The Zulu King, attired in a grey suit, said the medallion symbolised the Zulu people's gratitude to the international Statesman.
"Our gratitude knows no bounds," Zwelithini added.
