Malian president to participate in 13th OIF conference

Bamako- Mali (PANA) -- Malian president Amadou Toumani Toure leaves Bamako on Fri day for Switzerland to participate in the 13th summit of the International Franc o phonie Organization (OIF) which opens on Saturday in Montreux, Switzerland.
Some 50 heads of state and government are expected at the meeting which will foc us on the French language, the reform of global governance and security in the S a helo-Saharan zone where abductions of Europeans are rife of late.
A round table dedicated to the global food crisis will also be organized on Frid ay in a prelude to the summit, according to Mrs Micheline Calmy-Rey, federal cou n sellor, head of the Swiss department of foreign affairs.
She said the Burkinabe head of state, Blaise Compaore, would also attend the ses sion.
