Mali welcomes Ouattara’s commitment to national reconciliation in Côte d'Ivoire

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - The Malian government has welcomed the commitment of Ivorian president Alassane Ouattara to national reconciliation in his country.

In a statement issued Wednesday night after the weekly Council of Ministers, the Malian government also stated its readiness to support any action by the Ivorian government to ensure stability and development in the sub-region.

It expressed the hope that the latest developments in the crisis will create a calm political climate necessary for the establishment of democratic institutions that promote peace and security in Côte d'Ivoire.

At the height of the post-election crisis, over 10,000 Malians fled Côte d'Ivoire, where many Malian nationals were killed.

According to statistics, two million Malians live in Côte d’Ivoire, a country sharing border with Mali, engaged in plantation and trading.
