Mali launches first edition of Kénèbé project dedicated to youth and women

Bamako, Mali (PANA) - The Association Afrique Yeelen (AY), in partnership with the mayor's office of the Commune I of the district of Bamako and other partners, on Thursday launched the first edition of the "Keneba" project dedicated to assisting young people and women in the development of their various income generating activities, PANA learnt from a reliable source.

This project, which is a contribution of its initiators to the empowerment of women and youth, is being financed by the initiators and some philanthropists with a budget of 8 million CFA francs.

The selected people, notably women with an income-generating activity or young people without diplomas, but are involved in small-scale activities, will first receive training in income management before receiving financial support to be repaid without interest.

The name "Kènèba" (public square) was chosen for this project, according to its initiators, in reference to the customs and traditions of Mali, which give great importance to public squares in the debate on social problems.

At the launch of the first phase of this project, the various political and customary authorities welcomed the initiative and hoped that other young people and people of goodwill would follow in the footsteps of the Association Afrique Yeelen (AY), a Malian NGO that aims to promote youth and its partners.
