Bamako, Mali (PANA) – A high-level meeting between Mali, Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire will open on Sunday in the Malian city of Sikasso, official sources told PANA.
The meeting, at the instance of the Malian government, aims at proposing a tripartite framework to promote development poles around the cities of Sikasso in Mali, Korhogo in Côte d’Ivoire and Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso.
It aims at developing economic activities, developing consultation between authorities of the three neighbouring countries and promoting integration of trans-border populations.
Three million Burkina Faso nationals and two million Malians live in Côte d’Ivoire where they work on plantations and as traders and artisans.
