MFDC meeting slated for Banjul has been postponed

Ziguinchor- Senegal (PANA) -- An internal meeting of the Movement of Democratic Forces of Casamance (MFDC) rebels, initially scheduled to take place in Banjul (Gambia) from 16 to 19 July, has been postponed to a later date, a rebel leader said Friday.
Bertrand Diamacoune, the younger brother to MFDC secretary, Father Augustin Diamacoune, said the movement was unable mobilise leaders who needed to attend the meeting by Monday, the date set by the Gambian government.
"The time given to us was very short to be able to get in touch with all our leaders, especially those in the bush," said the younger Diamacoune.
Asked when he thought his movement would be able to hold the inter-MFDC meeting on Gambian, he suggested the dates from 5 to 8 August.
According to observers, the repeated postponements increasingly highlight the difficulties Father Diamacoune has had in getting members of his movement to follow his orders.
