Libyan officials report 36 unidentified bodies found alongside road to Benghazi

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Some 36 bodies of unidentified persons have been found along the main road linking Al-Abiar city to Benghazi, Libyan security officials said on Friday indicating the persistence of insecurity in the country.

"Thirty six bodies with traces of torture were found by the side of the road," one official confirmed, adding that the remains were taken to the morgue of Benghazi Hospital for forensic identification.

For its part, the Interior ministry of the Libyan interim government, based in the east of the country but not recognized by the international community, said it has opened an investigation into circumstances related to the unidentified bodies found in the area of al-Abiar on Thursday night.
