Libyan Parliament, UNSMIL meet on security situation in Tripoli and the west

Benghazi, Libya (PANA) - The Committee on Defence and National Security of the Libyan Parliament reviewed in a meeting with officials the Division of Security Institutions of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), the conclusions of the previous meetings and examined the security situation in Tripoli and in the west of the country.

The meeting held on Wednesday in Benghazi was attended by the Chairman of the Committee on Defence and National Security, Talal Al-Mihoub, and members of the committee, Issam Al-Jahani, Musab Al-Abed and Ali Al-Soul, said a statement issued by the official spokesman of the Libyan Parliament, Abdallah Blihak.

The meeting also focused on securing Libya's borders and coordination mechanisms between the two parties in this regard.

It also discussed the development of a plan to address the problem of illegal immigration and its repercussions on the security situation in the country and in neighbouring countries.

The meeting focused on the role of the Joint Military Committee (5+5), ways to overcome obstacles that hinder its work and the development of legislation adapted to the current security situation in Libya and changes underway at local and regional levels.

It also stressed the need to adopt a law on military justice.
