Libya intensifies war against locust in Guinea-Bissau

Tripoli- Libya (PANA) -- In continuation of assisting West African countries under the locust menace, a Libyan cargo ship left Tripoli Tuesday for Bissau with five vehicles equipped with spraying equipment and 16 tonnes of pesticides to combat the locust invasion in Guinea-Bissau.
According to the Libyan office for agricultural development and livestock, the consignment will help minimise the risks of looming food insecurity in Guinea-Bissau.
Nine Libyan engineers and specialists will shortly follow with another batch of consignment to supervise the anti-locust campaign in the West African country, the source said here Monday.
In response to appeals for assistance by thousands of farmers in affected countries, Libya earlier sent similar teams and assistance to Mali, Niger, Senegal and Chad to combat locust invasions.
