Libya denounces Israeli attack on Gaza Strip

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - Libya has condemned Friday's Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in deaths and injuries to several people.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Unity, Libya called on the international community to take "urgent and effective measures to stop the escalation, assume its legal and moral responsibility towards the Palestinian people and provide them with protection".

Libya renewed its firm position on the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

On Friday, Israeli raids resulted in the death of 10 civilians, including a five-year-old girl, and injuries to 55 others.

The Israeli military had announced the start of an operation in the Gaza Strip dubbed "Dawn", in which it targeted sites and personalities affiliated with the Islamic Jihad Movement, killing one of its leaders, Taysir al-Jabari.
