Libya: Turkish Airlines suspends flights to Misrata

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The Turkish Airlines Monday announced the temporary suspension of flights to Misrata airport, 220 km east of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, following the bombardment of rebel positions at the airport by the Libyan air force, airport sources said.

The decision means the disruption of flights to several Libyan cities, as the Misrata airport is the gateway to local flights across Libyan cities in the western and southern regions, the sources said.

The Chief of the Libyan air force, Gen. Saghar al-Jarouchi, on Sunday told the Libyan television that the Qatari and Turkish planes, carrying soldiers or military equipment and using the Misrata airport, were under threats of attack by rebels.
