Libya: New UN Scribe says Libyan issue among his priorities

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The new UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, on Tuesday said
that ways of resolving the Libyan crisis was among his priorities, warning that it is necessary for the international community to cooperate towards this development.

Guterres was speaking here during a meeting with the chairman of the presidential council of the Libyan government of national accord, Fayez al-Sarraj.

He said such an international cooperation would guarantee the restoration of stability, but warned that the destiny of Libya should be decided by the Libyans alone, through a united will without foreign interference.

Guterres indicated that in line with the 34th session of the Council of the UN human rights Commission, he was working actively to help in solving the Libyan crisis.

Also speaking, the chairman of the presidential council of the Libyan government of national accord, Fayez al-Sarraj, expressed the hope that the UN Secretary General is working to transform the duties of the UN mission in its next stage into a mission ‘to back stability’, and have true presence inside Libya and not outside Libya.
