Libya: LAS calls for quick formation of national accord govt in Libya

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) – The Council of the League of Arab States (LAS) has called for  acceleration of the formation of a national unity government in Libya, in accordance with resolutions of the Security Council, to ensure support to the military and security institutions in order to deal with terrorist organizations that continue to threaten the security and stability of the country and plunder its resources.

The Council stated in a resolution on the developments in Libya, following the work of the 145th session of Arab foreign ministers on Friday in Cairo, its support for the legitimate  House of Representatives (Parliament) and the interim government that comes in, until the adoption of the National Accord.

The resolution expressed rejection and condemnation of the terrorist acts committed by the terrorist organization "Daech" (Islamic state) against innocent people in Libyan cities, reiterating the call to the international community to provide support and full assistance to the Libyan government in response to these terrorist acts.

Foreign ministers of Arab countries called on their states to provide the moral, material and political support to the government of national reconciliation, if approved by the House of Representatives, according to the Libyan Political Agreement, and commended Tunisia's invitation to host a ministerial meeting of neighbouring countries on 21-22 March.
