Konare meets Chinese delegation on Sino-African summit

Banjul- The Gambia (PANA) -- A 10-member Chinese delegation met here Thursday with the African Union (AU) Commission Chairperson, Alpha Oumar Konare, on the forthcoming Africa-China summit.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of ongoing preparatory meetings for the 1-2 July AU Summit in the Gambian capital, was part of efforts by the two sides to ensure the success of the Sino-African summit, 4-5 November in Beijing.
"It was a very good meeting.
It is about the summit coming up in Beijing," Konare told PANA, adding: "We need to build a strategic partnership (between Africa and China).
" The Chinese delegation to the meeting, held at the Kairaba Hotel, was led by that country's Ambassador to Zambia, Li Baodong.
The team is due to brief African Foreign Ministers here Friday on the Sino-African summit.
