Konare, Obasanjo due in Freetown Friday

Freetown- Sierra Leone (PANA) -- ECOWAS Chairman and Malian President Alpha Oumar Konare and his Nigerian counterpart Olusegun Obasanjo, are due in Freetown Friday, the Sierra Leonean State House announced Thursday.
The State House said President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah would use the opportunity to brief the two leaders on the progress of the peace process in his country.
Konare is expected to administer the first dose of anti-polio Vaccination (OPV) at Mahera, Lungi as part of the campaign, under the synchronised approach for National Immunisation Days in ECOWAS Countries.
The UNICEF Regional Director Rima Salah is also expected in Sierra Leone for the campaign.
The last national Immunisation in Sierra Leone was in 2000, which official statistics said recorded some 84 percent success.
In July 1996, the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) Summit in Cameroon adopted the Yaounde Declaration on "Polio Eradication in Africa".
