Khartoum: UNAMID urges restraint over recent violence in East Darfur

Khartoum, Sudan (PANA) - The UN/AU Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) on Wednesday
expressed deep concern over recent development in East Darfur state and called
for restraint and peace.

A UNAMID statement made available to PANA in Khartoum, stated that, the

on 18 April in Dhayein led to an attack on the residence of the Wali (Governor)
of East Darfur state.

It urged all parties involved in "the unfortunate events" to exercise the utmost
restraint and refrain from acts that could further aggravate tension in the state.

The mission also said that, it stands ready to assist civilians in need of protection
and support the state authorities in their efforts to bring about peace and security
