Kenya to get US$4.5 million Japanese grant

Nairobi- Kenya (PANA) -- Kenya is to get 4.
5 million-US-dollar grant from Japan in addition to a share from the one billion dollar aid, which the Japanese government promised African countries at the just-ended Tokyo International Conference on Africa (TICAD), a senior Kenyan official said in Nairobi Friday.
The UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has also promised one million dollars to support training in the industrial sector and development of the small scale enterprises in Kenya.
Planning and National Development Minister Anyang' Nyong'o, who led the Kenyan delegation to the Tokyo conference, said the two grants would support various development projects and boost the war against poverty in the country.
The Tokyo conference organised by the Japanese government was attended by some 23 African leaders.
