Kagame receives African Gender Award

Dakar- Senegal (PANA) -- Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Wednesday received the 2007 African Gender Award given by Femmes Africa Solidarite (FAS), non-governmental organisation.
The ceremony, which was attended by Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade and several personalities including the African Parliament Speaker, Tanzanian Gertrude Mongella, was held in Dakar.
The prize rewards the efforts of President Kagame for his contribution to promoting women in his country.
Presidents Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal and Thabo Mbeki of South Africa won the first African Gender Award in 2005.
