Kadhafi urges Darfur rebels to embrace peace

Tripoli- Libya (PANA) -- In his sustained efforts to find a lasting solution to the crisis in Sudan's western Darfur region, Libyan leader, Col.
Moammar Kadhafi met here Thursday with leaders of both Darfur rebel factions ahead of the peace talks resuming Friday in Abuja, Nigeria.
According to Libyan official sources, Kadhafi insisted during the audience accorded leaders of the Movement for Justice and Equality and the Sudan Liberation Movement, the necessity for them to face their responsibilities toward a solution to the conflict.
He also asked them to set an example by expressing the Sudanese people's will and expectations in order to bring about peace and stability in this troubled region of Sudan.
Kadhafi also called on the leaders of both rebel movements to do exert all efforts to ensure that the Abuja talks offer an opportunity to reach a lasting peaceful solution to the crisis in Darfur.
The Libyan leader was mandated by the third African summit on Darfur to remain in contact with all the parties involved in the Darfur crisis until a sustainable solution is found to the conflict.
