Hundreds mourn renowned Rwandan journalist Casmiry Kayumba

Kigali, Rwanda (PANA) - Hundreds of people on Thursday turned up for the burial of veteran Rwandan journalist, Casmiry Kayumba, former publisher of Ukuri weekly newspaper, who died of heart attack on Tuesday.

Kayumba, 56, who was very well known for his work in the Rwandan media fraternity also served as Commissioner at the Media High Council (MHC).

After Ukuri Newspaper shut its doors in late 2007 due to financial problems, Kayumba was hired as Editor-in-Chief of Rushyashya, another print weekly newspaper which has switched to a digital version due to similar financial woes.

Commenting on the sad news, the executive secretary of Rwanda Journalists Association, Gonzague Muganwa, expressed deep grief over the demise of Kayumba.

In his condolence message, Muganwa conveyed his sympathy and solidarity to the bereaved family and prayed for peace for the departed soul.

Kayumba is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter.
