Headquarters of La Francophonie to open in 2010

Quebec- Canada (PANA) – The headquarters of the In-ternational Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) will open in the French capital, Paris, in 2010 following an agreement signed on Saturday in Quebec, Canada.
The agreement signed by the general secretary of OIF, Mr Abdou Diouf, and the Fr ench Secretary of State to the Co-operation and the Francophonie, Mr Alain Joyan d et, opens the way for the occupation of the House of La Francophonie.
The agreement was signed in the presence of French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his Prime Minister Francois Fillon.
The building equipped by France would be used by La Francophonie for 50 years un der the agreement which is renewable.

Diouf said on the second day of the 12th Summit of the OIF.
He said The House of La Francophonie, located in the middle of Paris, would comp lete the institutional and functional changes already achieved.
"The House will also make it possible to increase the visibility of our organisa tion and will contribute to its influence," said Mr Diouf said.
The House of La Francophonie promised by the former French president Jacques Chi rac in 2002 occupies 8,000 square meters, and would bring together all sections o f the OIF currently scattered on three sites in the French capital.
