Gunmen kill Nigerian state MP

Lagos, Nigeria (PANA) - Gunmen on Tuesday killed Adamu Degubi, deputy leader of the Yobe state House of Assembly (parliament) in Nigeria's northern region, the police said.

Police spokesman Adamu Salihu told journalists that the gunmen have yet to be identified and their motive was unknown.

"Investigation is going on to establish those who killed him and why he was killed," he said.

The violent Islamic sect Boko Haram, which has killed over 1,200 in gun and bomb attacks since 2009, said recently it was shifting its target to government officials and establishments.
