Gunmen Disrupt Somali Administrative Meeting

Mogadishu- Somalia (PANA) -- A Somali cabinet delegation was forced to postpone a meeting, intended to install a new administration in Afgoye district, after unknown people opened fire forcing the delegation to flee from the venue Wednesday.
Sources told PANA Thursday the accident took place soon after Interior minister Dahir Mohammed Dayah started addressing the residents of Afgoye, 30km south of Mogadishu.
Dayah and his entourage immediately returned to Mogadishu.
The Somali Transitional National Government has been in dispute with some residents over the issue of setting up local administrative structures aimed at restoring peace and order in the war-torn country.
The people accuse the government of trying to impose on them leaders who are not residents of the same localities, but Dayah has refuted the accusation.
Last week Dayah and his delegation were forced to go back to Mogadishu after residents of the southern Lower Shabelle region repulsed their proposal to form an administrative structure there.
Shabelle residents accused the government of bringing in people from other regions to rule over them.
