Guinea: UN Secretary General expected in Conakry Saturday

Conakry, Guinéa (PANA) - UN Secretary General Ban KI-moon is due to arrive in Conakry Saturday for hours-long visit to Guinea, the first time he will be visiting the West African nation since he assumed office, PANA reported.

During the visit, Mr. Ban will meet with President Alpha Condé to discuss the issue of Ebola, which has killed 1,525 people in Guinea since the outbreak in the country in January.

Several top officials of the UN system have visited Guinea over the pandemic that currently affects about 20 Prefectures out of the country's 33.

The UN's lead coordinator against Ebola in Guinea, Rwandan Marcel Rudansungwa, recently died of a heart attack in his hotel room in Conakry.
