Guinea: EU donates 485,296 euro to Guinean media for Ebola war

Conakry, Guinea (PANA) – Conakry, Guinea (PANA) – The European Union has granted an amount of 485,296 euro to the Guinean media to help it mobilize and reorient its additional activities towards the fight against the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

In a communique issued on Friday and copy of which was transmitted to PANA, the EU Delegation in Guinea said communication and proximity information delivered in a language that is understood by the populations in the regions constituted key elements in the response plan to eradicate the disease.

These additional activities comprise mainly of technical support to the national radio in the forest area of Guinea where the first case of the disease was registered, as well as a support to specialized training on the problematic of emerging diseases.

The main operators to benefit from the EU support are “Fondation Hirondelle”, Internews, Canal France International and the “Ecole Supérieure de journalisme de Lille.”

This editorial support in radio, television, press and online media as well as academic areas will focus on the production of quality information that will serve the whole of the targeted populations.
