Guillaume Soro issues ultimatum to Gbagbo

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire (PANA) - Guillaume Soro, named Prime Minister by the internationally-recognised president of Cote d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, has asked incumbent Laurent Gbagbo to quit within 'several hours' or face unspecified consequences.

Speaking on Radio France International Wednesday, Soro said time was running out for ''dialogue and ceasefire''.

Forces loyal to Ouattara have launched an offensive and recaptured several cities inside the country, including the Ivorian political capital, Yamoussoukro (centre), without facing any opposition.

They are now moving towards the economic capital, Abidjan, where fighting is expected to be heavy.
