Ghana government proposes 13 September for Kofi Annan's state burial

Accra, Ghana (PANA) - The late former secretary-general of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, will be buried in Accra on 13 September if his family agrees with the proposal of the government, Ghana's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has said.

Speaking to a delegation of the family that called on him in Accra on Friday, President Akufo-Addo said the late top diplomat would be given a full state burial.

He said the VIP section of the new military cemetery at Teshie, in Accra, should be the most appropriate place for burial.

He said the State would bear all the expenses for the funeral.

Kofi Annan, 80, died in Switzerland last Saturday.
