Ghana: Ethiopian Airlines cargo plane crash-lands in Accra

Accra, Ghana (PANA) - A cargo plane belonging to Ethiopian Airlines crash-landed at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Saturday, according to aviation officials.

The Ethiopian Cargo Cargo plane arriving from the Togolese capital, Lome, was in the process of landing when it skidded off the runaway.

Three crew members on board the aircraft have been taken to hospital but the severity of their injuries is not known.

"The plane skidded off the runway while trying to land," the Corporate Communications Officer of Ghana Airport Company, Newman Quartey, said.

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), together with the Ghana National Fire Service and national security officials, has begun investigations into the accident. The weather has been very hazy in Ghana over the past several days with dusty harmattan winds seriously reducing visibility.

In 2012, a Nigerian Cargo plane skidded off the tarmac and ran into a passenger vehicle killing about 10 passengers.
