Germany supports HIV/AIDS fight in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou- Burkina Faso (PANA) -- Germany Thursday allocated 1.
7 billion francs CFA (1 dollar = 700 FCFA) to Burkina Faso to support a social programme for the sale of condoms (PROMACO II) launched to fight HIV/AIDS.
The contribution, which follows earlier donations, would enable the supply of condoms at subsidised prices, until the end of 2002.
PROMACO, the official body responsible for the promotion of low-cost condoms in the country, sells a pack of four condoms at 50 FCFA.
The German support falls within the framework of bilateral cooperation in which Berlin has so far mobilised the sum of 6.
472 million FCFA mainly for the supply and distribution of 28 million as well as for HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns.
