Germany's ambassador to Libya stresses importance of dialogue among Libyans to achieve elections

Tripoli, Libya (PANA) - The German ambassador to Libya, Michael Unmacht, said here Thursday that the best solution to the Libyan political crisis is dialogue and political agreement leading to elections to promote stability.

Mr. Unmacht's position came during his meeting in Tripoli with the Libyan minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity, Najla Al-Mangouch, said a statement from the ministry.

The meeting focused on strengthening and supporting bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the activation of joint economic agreements.

Recent developments on the political situation in Libya were also discussed, according to the same source, which added that Al-Mangouch stressed that she was working "to achieve stability in the country and encourage German's role in supporting the parliamentary and presidential elections.

Earlier, the ambassador met with the vice president of the Libyan Presidential Council, Abdallah Al-Lafi, who commended Germany for its initiatives to bring the Libyan parties together, support a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis and unify the executive branch, through the tracks of the two Berlin Conferences.
