Germany donates 23m euros to fight HIV/AIDS in Central Africa

Brazzaville- Congo (PANA) -- Germany has granted 23 million euros to the Organiza tion coordinating the fight against Endemics in Central Africa (OCEAC) as part o f its project for the fight against HIV/AIDS in Central Africa.
An agreement to this effect signed Monday in Brazzaville, the Congolese capital, by a representative of the German Development Bank (KFW), Hubert Eisele, and th e Secretary-General of OCEAC, Dr.
Jean Jacques Moka.
According to the agreement, the difficulties encountered in the fight against HI V/AIDS are partly due to the lack of effective heath systems and policies in the sub-region.
The measures (fight against HIV/AIDS) were stepped up with a view to reverting t he trend of infections and stigmatizing.
Under the agreement, male and female condoms will also be supplied across the su b-region and the population sensitized on the need to change their behaviour.
They will also be sensitized on the damaging effects of stigmatization and discr imination against people living with HIV/AIDS.
