Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - Gambian President Yahya Jammeh has ordered the Major Crime Unit of the Gambian Police Force to come up with its findings on the on-going investigations into circumstances leading to the death of Journalist Lamin Darboe, PANA confirmed from here Tuesday.
Darboe, a sports journalist working for opposition Foroyaa newspaper, published in the Gambia, died recently after his car slipped off a ferry and drowned while trying to cross from Barra Town to Banjul City during the Eid feast tide.
The late journalist’s colleagues and family members later demanded for a “full enquiry into the events leading to the death”.
“The best way to pay tribute to Lamin Darboe is to give the investigators information which is nothing but the facts. Information is the raw material for the building of any case to ensure that Justice is done and is seen to be done,” Foroyaa newspaper wrote in reaction to government's investigations.
