Gambian President Barrow to meet top gov’t officials over reforms

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - President Adama Barrow of Gambia is scheduled to meet over 144 civil servants on January 28 in his drive to reform the civil service sector, a statement from the presidency said on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the meeting aims to discuss the reform of the sector in order to have “efficient, effective and responsive public sector institutions.”

The forum which was earlier scheduled to take place on January 16 will now happen on January 23 at State House.

PANA report on Wednesday that President Barrow, who captured power last year January, has lined up numerous reforms such as economic, agriculture, human rights, education and civic servants, among others.

“President Barrow will engage senior officials on key issues related to the Public Sector Reform. The public sector is one of the enablers that will complement the eight strategic priorities of the National Development Plan (2018-2021),” the statement said.  

“The forum will bring together all the Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, other senior officials and the heads of the state-own enterprises. The Office of the President urges all invitees to attend in person.”
