Gambia: First female Governor appointed in the Gambia

Banjul, Gambia (PANA) - The Gambia has appointed its first female governor, Mrs, Aminta Sifai Hydara, who heads the West Coast Region, official sources confirmed to PANA Wednesday.

Mrs Hydara was appointed governor of the region effective from Tuesday, 6 May, 2014, by  the Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh.

She replaces Alhagie Lamin Sanneh, who has been redeployed as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Regional Administration and Local Government.

Mrs. Hydara was working at the Kanifing Municipal Council, KMC, and as Ward Councilor before her new appointment.
