Francophonie games body to meet in Paris

Paris- France (PANA) -- Ministers who are members of the Francophonie International Games Committee (CIJ) will meet here Thursday to assess the status of the preparations for the 5th Francophonie Games slated for 10-17 December in Niamey, Niger.
The ministers, who will be briefed by the representatives of the host country on their preparations so far, will also attend around midday the draw for the games' football tourney.
According to sources, the issue of funding the games will also feature high on the agenda as Niger's budget of 6.
5 billion FCFA was seen as insufficient.
In a recent visit here, Niger Prime Minister Hama Amadou estimated the real cost of the games to be 10 billion FCFA.
He urged the Francophonie to review its contribution upward.
Some 10,000 people representing 56 national delegations are expected at the games to be held simultaneously with the International African Fashion Festival (FIMA).
