France to help Senegal organise next Francophonie Summit

Paris, France (PANA) – France will closely work with Senegal to make the next Summit of International Francophone Organization (OIF) scheduled for Dakar in 2014 a successful event, the spokesman of France’s ministry of Foreign Affairs, Philippe Lalliot, has said.

Speaking to the media on Friday, he said guarantees were already given to the Senegalese minister of Foreign Affairs Mankeur Ndiaye by French minister in charge of Francophone matters, Mrs Yamina Benguigui.

“Francophone youth and the enhancement of African economic potentials are expected to be high on the agenda of the Dakar summit,” Mr Lalliot said.

Senegal was selected to host the next OIF summit in October in Kinshasa, the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo.

A new Secretary General of OIF will be elected at the Dakar Summit to replace Abdou Diouf who has led the international organization since 2002.
