France Offers 3.7 Million Francs To OAU Peace Fund

ADDIS ABABA- Ethiopia (PANA) -- France Thursday donated 3.
7 million French francs to the OAU peace fund in support of the organisation's joint military commission set up to implement a cease-fire agreement in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
An agreement on the donation was signed by OAU assistant secretary-general for political affairs, Said Djinnit, and the French ambassador to Ethiopia, Jacques Dewatre.
Djinnit expressed appreciation for the French government's "consistent support to OAU's peace efforts and the work of its central organ for conflict prevention, management and resolution.
" On his part, Dewatre assured the OAU of the French government's continued support for the efforts deployed by the OAU to bring peace to different conflict areas of Africa.
The French government recently contributed logistical support to the OAU mission in the Comoros and to the organisation's conflict management centre.
