Five dead in Ivorian military helicopter crash

Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (PANA) - Five occupants of an attack helicopter of the Ivorian army died in a crash on Thursday night in the north of the country, the Ivorian Army announced in a statement.

It said the MI 24 attack helicopter on a reconnaissance mission on the northern border lost contact with control tower.

The helicopter was found two kilometers north of Togolokaye, in the Tehini department of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, the statement said.

All five occupants died, according to the statement, which said an investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.

The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces has offered his condolences to the families of the dead, assuring them of the support of the entire Defence and Security Forces of Côte d'Ivoire.
