FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup: Exciting third round of African qualifiers kick off on Friday

Cairo, Egypt (PANA) - The race towards a place in the 2024 FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup in Dominican Republic, enters an exciting third round of African qualifiers this week.

Twelve nations prepare to put their best foot forward for the three places reserved for Africa at the global youth women’s football competition.

The two-leg qualifiers officially get underway on Friday, 10 May, as Ethiopia welcome Kenya for the first leg.

A thrilling North African derby is on the cards on the same day as Morocco play host to Algeria in what promises to be an action-packed encounter.

On Saturday, Burkina Faso take on Nigeria in a west African affair. Nigeria, who finished third at the last edition in India, will be hoping to maintain their good showing at the global stage but must first overcome a highly-determined Burkina Faso side.

Senegal meet Liberia on the same day and will be aiming to get a good result at home. Under the guidance of Serena Lena Gomis, the team have set a target of being the first Senegalese women’s team to qualify for a FIFA World Cup.

The last round of fixtures take place on Sunday as Djibouti face Burundi while Zambia take on the high-flying Uganda who stunned Cameroon in the previous round.
