FIFA U-17 WC: Another African team, Congo, eliminated

Mexico City, Mexico (PANA) - Congo Brazzaville has become the third African team to be eliminated from the ongoing FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Mexico, after losing 2-1 to Uruguay in a round of 16 match here Wednesday.

The Uruguayans came back from a goal down to beat Congo at the Estadio Morelos in Morelia.

After a goalless first half, Congo shot to the lead in the 53rd minute, when Binguila scored off a cross from Epako.

Uruguay drew level just 12 minutes later when Aguirre crossed into the penalty area and Moreira made no mistake with his finish. The South Americans clinched the winner four minutes from time.

While Congo walked off to a standing ovation from the crowd, Uruguay advanced to the quarter final, where it will meet Uzbekistan on Sunday.

Africa's only remaining team at the tournament, Cote d'Ivoire, faces France in the round of 16 Thursday.

African champion Burkina Faso and Rwanda were eliminated in the group stage.
